The
instruments we produce are realized respecting philologically the
materials and the building techniques. We particularly care about the
choice and the natural seasoning of woods, the calibration and the the
assembling of the various parts, the stringing, the finishing and the
pictorial decoration. The tuning of the soundboard and the voicing of
the plectra are accurately performed. We usually use white poplar for
bottoms, cases and lids, lime for key levers, walnut for wrestplanks,
sorb for jacks, spruce from val di Fiemme or cypress (for Italian
harpsichords) for soundboards, boxwood, bone, ebony for key covers and
other materials. We also make strings, using iron and two different
kinds of brass alloy. The finishing of the cases is exclusively
realized with natural products, such as shellac, wax, Bologna chalk,
rabbit skin glue, gold and silver leaf, clay earth pigments of various
colors.
